Sadness will give way to hope at the site where the Estaminé restaurant once stood. This week, work will begin to remove the rubble. The only restaurant on Ilha Deserta in Faro that went up in flames on 2 March last year will rise again.
The team from Animaris, which will once again be involved in the project, has returned to the island to begin work on removing the rubble. The reboot has brought the entire team together in a symbolic gesture to move beyond grief and give way to hope.
The company has 33 employees, and with them all in mind, the owner José Vargas, together with his family, decided not to let up and tackle the solution: rebuilding.
The first phase will be to remove everything that is left and start placing the new Estaminé.
The structure will be identical to the previous one: a self-sufficient restaurant that respects, protects and fully integrates with the landscape and surrounding nature. We can follow the progress on the restaurant’s social networks Instagram and Facebook, where a photo of the renovation is shared every week.
